1.) BC Rail mania near Ilmon, CA? 2.) Two-tone green Alcos up front below Caliente. 3.) Approaching Allard. Date: 04/29/24 21:32 Re: 1980s BC Rail over 1950s Tehachapi Pass (La Mesa Club, San Di Author: MrMRL Tossed in a curve-ball this round going for 1980s era BC Rail in the two-tone green schemes. Motive-power is a mix of Bowser, Atlas and Rapido.
4.) Rounding the curves at Allard. 5.) Fresh Canadian pine on its way to So Cal. 6.) Power Profile. Date: 04/29/24 21:33 Re: 1980s BC Rail over 1950s Tehachapi Pass (La Mesa Club, San Di Author: MrMRL So yeah, got a few cleaned up images to share with everyone along the numerous photogenic spots along this amazing layout.
7.) Approaching Bealville. 8.) Crossing the road at Bealville. 9.) Above Walong. Date: 04/29/24 21:34 Re: 1980s BC Rail over 1950s Tehachapi Pass (La Mesa Club, San Di Author: MrMRL Another big thanks to Dave Hussey (of Cannon & Co.) for the invite to operate on this incredible layout.

Restrictions make sense when you're trying for a realistic time specific run session. Outside of that, it simply cuts your potential membership / visitors. This HO scale Tehachapi Pass layout in San Diego, CA is an amazing piece of model railroading architecture, multiple decades in the making. Just watching/sharing the experiences that new viewers and attendees (young and old) of the train museum have as they see this layout for their first or second times is often heart warming. To also be able to personally run one's little model train(s) across this scale world... While physically picturing/remembering standing at many of these real places, watching real-life trains go by over the years, is equally amazing. I hope this layout thrives another 100+ years. And again, thank you to the "powers at be" at La Mesa (you know who you are), for allowing/inviting non-members the rare yet appreciated opportunities to run and share our model trains across this super extensive and near-prototypical model railroad. ~ Mr. MRL Date: 05/01/24 06:25 Re: 1980s BC Rail over 1950s Tehachapi Pass (La Mesa Club, San Di Author: dmaffei Great photos as always. Depth of field is great showing the layout even better. Thanks for posting.
