Model Railroading > Walthers Proto gp35

Does any one here own one or knows somebody who has 1 or more of these units. 
would like to know if these newer proto units have the same ( cracked gear ? ) problems like the older proto units did.

The new runs have the helical gears.  My pair have no issues.

The Walthers/Proto GP35 is a new model.   It was never made by Life Like/Proto.   It has always had helical gears, but they can crack also.    I have a Walthers version E7, which is a new body not the same tooling as the Life Like bodies and had four of six axles with cracked gears.    Walthers supplied me with replacements.

I'd like to see Walthers offer a Proto GP35 in D&RGW with the low nose signal light one day.  

I hadn't heard of issues with the Wathers newer units with the Helical Cut gears. I have a few.

I have more Walthers/Proto engines with helical gears and never once have had an issue.  It is the best running drive in the industry as far as I am concerned.

I wish they would do another run of their Phase II GP35. I would like to have one in NYC and the lone Phase II B&O unit.

Mine has no problems.

Just a suggestion: YOU HAVE TO get the custom shaped speaker from Scale Sound Systems.  Worth it!
