Model Railroading > Zach Thompson of Walthers GoneDate: 06/14/24 19:15 Zach Thompson of Walthers Gone Author: CO1309 Does anyone know where Zach Thompson of Walthers went? I guess he left Walthers. Typically these folks pop up elsewhere in the hobby.

Off topic but very interesting is the growth of the Mainline product line - I spend more of my dollars on the rail cars they have produced over the last few years than what I used to purchase from Athearn/Horizon. Mainline works for me as a fleet model whereas Tangent - Scale Trains for detailed to max.
I also found it very interesting that Walthers has chosen to invest in the SD70/75 tooling when Athearn has already done the model and the tooling is probably paid off - However Athearn has chosen to sell the SD70/75 as genesis only. I did notice the Mainline SD70/75 had walkway treads where as the Mainline SD70ace and ES44 do not. Dan Date: 06/17/24 16:10 Re: Zach Thompson of Walthers Gon Author: Highhood Dantrain Wrote:

In looks the engines are at least as good if not better then Kato and there performance is equal to Kato. I say this because even though I have a dozen or more Athearn rtr and genisis engines and while a few have been excellent runners and are very good looking I find that the motors in them suck and I simply run them to death and use them has dummies. > > Dan Jon Fink Schenectady, NY |
