Model Railroading > Another screw questionDate: 10/24/24 13:08 Another screw question Author: Frank30 Assuming this item is the same for all manufacturers and which we all at some time
need to remove in order to release the coupler pocket and be able to remove the diesel engine shell: Does this screw have a name or thread count?? Who would sell packages of them? The ones I like are threaded only at the tip and unthreaded the reast of the way and have a pan head, but any version will do. Thanks Frank30 Date: 10/24/24 13:45 Re: Another screw question Author: ATSFSuperCap That sounds like a KATO coupler screw.

Unless there is a diagram listing the specific size of the screw, it becomes a guessing game. There is no standard screw size used by all manufacturers. To help confirm the thread size, this Gauge is helpful: https://www.amazon.com/Screw-Thread-Metric-Recommends-BCP675/dp/B07K7W3NQQ/ref=pd_bxgy_d_sccl_2/146-4318339-6477828?pd_rd_w=E9swL&content-id=amzn1.sym.04064661-569a-4d64-8aef-6cc4eefc1253&pf_rd_p=04064661-569a-4d64-8aef-6cc4eefc1253&pf_rd_r=VX080DM855SFN7HGMP92&pd_rd_wg=Ba8Mq&pd_rd_r=17ee64ca-6433-4b30-9deb-5d50b4a63db6&pd_rd_i=B07K7W3NQQ&psc=1 ![]() Date: 10/25/24 05:58 Re: Another screw question Author: funnelfan The vast majority of coupler pocket screws are 2-56 of varying length, most are pan heads. Kadee sells packages of these screws, but you can find them all over the place in hardware stores and online. Best to have these in a variety of lengths from 1/8" up through 3/8". I prefer the phillips over the slotted type.

While working on an Athearn engine last night and going through my collection of Walthers miniature hardware, also determined that the 2-56 works Frank30 |
