Model Railroading > MBTA's 1100 Series LocosDate: 11/10/24 12:47 MBTA's 1100 Series Locos Author: Frank30 I am in the process of creating MBTA GP40MC 1100 series engines out of Atlas' GP40-2W
CN Version engines which I've had for 15 years or so. I've dealt with the cab front and flares. However, does anybody know where I can find photos of the fans' placement on the roof?? The GP40-2W (at least Atlas' version) had 3 fans toward the back of the engine, the (T) GP40MC has 5 fans. The few engines still in service are on the north side and I'm on the south side, so I need to solve this problem without standing on a north side bridge waiting for one of them to come by. I do have photos of all angles but the roof. Any help would be appreciated. There are a few that have built prototypical HO models. The best place to ask this question would be the Facebook group for modeling New England railroads.

They use a shorter dynamic brake captop fan from a late 60s hood on a elongated hood. You're better off using a GP40x hood for the flairs but as previously stated your going to have to stretch the frame and long hood.
