Model Railroading > From Tyco of course!Date: 11/17/24 21:54 From Tyco of course! Author: rgcw5 A while back I realized my modern tonopah and tidewater needed some new box cars, so as a test I picked up this Tyco 60 ft box car and using a up-to-date Athearn Greenville Railbox as a template, the Reno shops began an extensive evening project of putting on a new 60 ft roof, body mounting the couplers a rebuild of the sides painting and decaling.
I just finally finished the decals on this and now I'm going to let them dry and then finally dull coat it tomorrow, the only big problem with the decals was the data, for whatever reason the oddballs decals kept doing weird things like tearing and rolling! If I decide to do another one of these cars, I think I'm going to have to figure out the number for microscale Greenville boxcars Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 11/17/24 21:55 by rgcw5. And just to put a price tag on this, the tyco car itself was about $7 Trucks were about 14 Paint was $4 Couplers were maybe 8 The roof was 7 and the ribs were 5 And because the decals came from different manufacturers I'm not going to include it Date: 11/19/24 18:53 Re: From Tyco of course!
