Christmas Train
Author: charlesn

Got the Christmas train layout up for it's 2024 run around the tree, tree to come later!  All the engines and rolling stock this year are from
my uncle's layout.  (The buildings and street cars are from my collection.) It was vertical in his garage since the late 70's or early 80's.  My uncle Frank passed away in early January of this year,
he was 97.  When I set it horzontal in his garage in June I thought I would give it a last run on the old layout, however the transformer plug wire was very chrunchey as were most of the wires.
So this year I thought I would only run his collection on my Christmas layout at least till Christmas.  The Lionel switch tower in the distance was the only structure he had on the layout, before
building the layout (late 60's) the trains ran under his tree at christmas time.  He had  the standard card board houses of the late 50, 60's vinage which were lighted under the tree.

Very good Charles! Did you notice the track jump on the inner loop as the steamer came flying around? I think your O scale crew messed their pants!

Great layout and videos of the Christmas setup!  Brings back memories of Lionel trains in our family to be sure - both my first train set as well as my late father's more elaborate layout years later.

I received a Lionel Layout for Christmas at age 4 years old back in 1964.  Pretty cool stuff back then.  But being curious I used to take things apart.  Years later I switched to HO because to me it looked for more realisitc and sold my HO trains, except for the Hudson Steam engine.  I still have that Husdon all these years later but the whisle mechanism in the tender is gone and I'm missing wheels from the Steam engine.  I wish I would have taken better care of it.

Looks like fun.
I gave my old Lionel MUNI PCC car to a guy living in the East Bay last year and enjoyed seeing it go around & around
during his Holiday gathering.
Regards, Jim Evans, his name was Charles also!

Really great Lionel Christmas layout Charles.  It's a nice tribute to your Uncle Frank to keep his collection active.  Your buildings and accessories are nice.
