Division Point Alco Hydraulic DH-643?

Division Point is investigating the market for an H0 version of the Alco Hydraulic DH643.
The best H0 models on the market at the moment are the OMI versions, which still need a lot of work as the design has some major flaws.
I have the 9018 from Overland as you can check on pictures and I love it, but I would be more than happy to get a nice version of them, following the current state of the art.

It is up to us to tell them to push the start button!

Whether we will ever have a plastic model in the future or not is not the question here... The point is, if you are into brass models and like the SP, or just enjoy exotic models, or just love the diesel hydraulic theme like I do,  then this would be a unique addition to your fleet! Even more so if you have an OMI, UTI, Division Point or Piko ML4000.

Here is my older unit. Had DCC sound installed and am quite satisfied, however understand the detail issues.

They were renumbered three times so the true SP enthusiast needs all nine models.

Isn't that how marketing works?

How much do you think DP willl want for one--about $600?

It's nice to see the steady progression in this hobby toward ever increased realism over the years. Not so long ago, these OMI brass models were the penultimate expression of fine scale craftsmanship in brass diesels.  As for me, I would welcome a "remastered" higher fidelity DH-643 in HO scale.

Cheers,
Harry

You can probably tripple that number, if not more.

I just boght a Baldwin Centercab from them, paid 1790 USD. The locomotive has sound and DCC.

The DH643 ist not much bigger or much more complex to build. So i guess it would be alround that.

Even if I wanted one, that is too rich for my blood. And I've been chastised for purchasing an overland brass bridge for $1400.

Most of the Overland bridges they did over the years were very nice. Well done, and don't worry about the hater's.

You could get chewed out for buying a $5 Athearn car that isn't spot on, or buying a $1000+ brass model that is perfect.  The classic retort to most of the haters is "Well how big is your railroad?"  That normally shuts them up.

If we listened to all the "fellow modelers" we wouldn't have GP40P-2s and SD45Xs in brass or plastic.
Bring on the Alco-Haulics!
