Model Railroading > Latest run of ScaleTrains Tunnel Motors

According to the email blast from ScaleTrains, this run is 98% sold out.  As soon as I found out they have the rectangular safety lights (at the base of the nose) illuminated, I couldn't get my credit card out fast enough!  However, as expected, the engines I wanted were already reserved.  Undaunted, I copied the part number and did a Google search.  I got a hit on the Hiawatha Hobbies site.  Excellent!  Added it to the cart and plugged another part number into their site's search field.  Nothing.  No hits at all for any additional part numbers.  

I Got Mine, You Get Yours
I went back to Google search and got a hit on the Hiawatha site, which was odd since that same part number found nothing with their search field.  Turns out the trick is to use the Google search to get to the Tunnel Motor on the Hiawatha site.  (I know, they need to have a firm talk with their webmaster, but that is another story.  BTW, I did use the Contact Us to let them know.)  Looks like they had ordered 6 of each, and their price is the same as ScaleTrains; even free shipping.  So, if you are thinking you missed-out on this latest run, try a Google search (such as SXT39869), click the link for the Hiawatha site, and place your order.  :-D

What numbers were you looking for.  Very often, after ScaleTrains starts shipping, the get cancelations on some of the pre-orders. But sounds like you found a solution.I pre-ordered a couple of the SP tunnel motors and a couple D&RGW. They should be available soon.

Or just click on the Pre-Orders tab and go to pages 7-8.  They're all there.  ;-)

I do agree that the search function should somehow be connected to those pre-orders as well.

That was going to be Plan B, in case Hiawatha dropped the ball and didn't fill my preorder.

I received an email from ScaleTrains today that indicates the units I preordered are being shipped.  Can't wait!  :-D

Okay, so they purposely left the preorder items out of their general search.
Thanks for clearing that up for me.

It does seem like a better way to get them in front of the customer to sell them.
The next time I go to their site, I will remember to look for preorder items in a separate area.  ;-)

I finally received the invoices for the four units I had preordered that included two un-numbered, as well as #8254 and Speed Lettered Snoot Nosed #8362. Wish I had purchased a Cotton Belt unit from the 2020 run. I imagine that they will announce SD45T-2's soon enough. Now I need to start selling off the Athearn RTR units that I never got around to detailing.

I have my invoice now as well, but I'll be paying it in about a week or so to spread out the costs on the old CC.  But I have plenty to keep me busy in the man cave in the mean time.

I too would like to see ScaleTrains offer SD45T-2s

I have ordered from Hiawatha hobbies. It's not my regular
place, but when I've used them service is great and prompt. 
It may be they are just now entering the locos into their system. Maybe call them?

ScaleTrains took their Tunnel Motors to a whole new level.  Not seeing the rear gear tower blew me away!  :-O

The container arrived at ScaleTrains last week, so Hiawatha should be receiving their locos this week.
The preorders have been on the Hiawatha site for a while.  The issue is they have them listed separately from their regular stock.  Using their search function won't find any hits.  They want you to use their PreOrder tab and scroll thru pages of items, hunting for the ones you want.  Not the very convenient.

Thanks for the update.
I've seen some listed on eBay, so they are definitely being shipped.
The Tunnel Motors I reserved with ScaleTrains are due Tuesday.  I live on the West Coast, so folks that live closer are already enjoying theirs.
Definitely worth the wait!  :-D
