Sound comes to the Tampa Northern.
Author: SALGUY

On Thursday I received my first sound equipped unit for my Tampa Northern.  Oddly enough, it's a Chessie System U30C from the latest run of these units by Atlas.  I must say, it's pretty cool.  Let's check it out.  Also, let me say I'm a fan of GEs Big Boats, both U series and the Dash 7 ones.

Please check out the Tampa Northern group on facebook.

Chris, I've been exposed to sound equipped units on other layouts.  Moat of them have the sound turned up way to loud and i find it annoying.  Im talking engines at idle and you can hear them from 25ft away.  That's too much. I've got a roster of about 75 units total, perhaps a few more.  I figure I'd like to get about 35 or 40 of them sound equipped.  That should be plenty.

Understand. I keep my volume levels low also. Gotta scale the sound also. I often run more then one train at the same time but usually just one with the sound on.
