Model Railroading > Restaurants With Model RailroadsDate: 04/13/25 11:58 Restaurants With Model Railroads Author: FiveChime No photos with this post, but, I recently saw on You Tube a place in Europe featured where food was delivered to customers by large scale model train.
As I recall, there used to be a place like this near the main rail station in Portland, Oregon. Know that folks are on TO from all over the world, but I remember a place long closed by now in Palo Alto, California called the Golden Sprike. They built quite and extensive layout going around the inside of the large area depicting the Transcontential railroad. I was there twice. food was not great but model railroad was. They ran 1800 era trains around that folks could see close up as they ate. Anyone remember this place or know of others like it? But the it was in Seattle, not Portland. Best as I can recall. See the Iron Horse Restaurant in Wikipedia Date: 04/13/25 18:03 Re: Restaurants With Model Railroads Author: KF1957 Buffalo Phil's in Wisconsin Dells WI. G gauge trains delivering food.

Was wondering if it was still going strong. Posted from Android Date: 04/14/25 09:34 Re: Restaurants With Model Railroads Author: FiveChime Thanks for eveyone's input. I was particularly interested in places that had interesting HO layouts not
places where food was delived by model train. Guess there were very few of those. At this Golden Spike place in Palo Alto, the narrow layout ran between the tables and wall, all around the place so one could sit at unique sceniced locations depicting portions of the transcon as it crossed the county. Detail of the Sierra crossing was well done while other places had minimal scenery. As I recall the trains they ran were very short and did not run well and were only operating during my first visit. Wish I could find evidence of this place and a few photos, but nothing turns up when I try to search. Seems that it might of been called Promentary Point instead of Golden Spike. Regards, Jim Evans |
