Passenger Trains > Michigan Railnews: Charlotte Southern Railroad Ending Operations

After 4 years of inactivity owners of the Charlotte Southern RR have decided to end Dinner Train operations at Charlotte, Michigan. Last run of the Dinner Train was March 2020 when pandemic halted operations. Equipment has set idled since. 
New ownship has decided to move in a new direction and cease operations and is disposing of the equipment. 

The Coopersville and Marne Railway has purchased the two coaches and a former GTW RPO car and they will be leaving the line.

44 Tonner # 3 and a power car remain with fates to be determined. Significantly #3 is the last 44 toner built. The unltimate fate of the shortline tracks have yet to be determined too.

On 1/26/24 #3 was fired up for the first time since 10/20 to move coaches Battle Creek and Butternut Creek to the CN junction for pick up. On 2/2/23 #3 was fired up and operated to the far east end of the line to bring the former GTW RPO car back for interchange. The RPO car will be 100 years old in June of 2024.

After work is done #3 and the unsold power car then return to their station for perhaps the final time. In the video a final mournful horn.
