Passenger Trains > Eastern Canada Trip Part 1: Railfanning in Greater Montreal AreaDate: 04/05/26 07:32 Eastern Canada Trip Part 1: Railfanning in Greater Montreal Area Author: Passfanatic The end of March 2026, I spent a couple of nights in the Greater Montreal area just before setting out to Halifax on VIA Rail Ocean Train # 14. During my stay in the Montreal area, I got a lot of photographs of EXO, VIA Rail, Metro, REM, and a few photos of freight. I was able to photograph Amtrak's Adirondack a couple of times as well. Even though Montreal is north of the international border, it is really close to it. The first several photos that I took were at the Dorval, QC VIA Rail Station.

I stayed at the Fairfield Inn by Marriott hotel on the left and that is a great hotel if you are a railfan. It's also great if you have a flight to catch as Montreal Trudeau International Airport is so close by. It's a really cool system-great rolling stock and some very attractive stations. The Metro takes you to many of the main parts of Montreal.
