Canyon Spirit Makes Inaugural Run
Author: CR6377

Today 4/7, Canyon Spirit made their first official run over the Moffat Line from Denver to Glenwood Springs, despite leaving an hour late, and meeting the UP OCS at Rollins, the train got into Glenwood Springs almost right at 5pm. Here are some shots at Fraser, Byers Canyon and Gore Canyon. Sun was in and out behind lots of clouds, but got more lucky than not. More to follow

Next up is the reverse curve at Yarmony, Next is the multple curves west of McCoy. And the bridge at Burns, for once I didn't mind shooting in the backlight, since the bridge is still marked Rio Grande. More to come.

Next is a shot I've scouted for awhile on Google, a nice rock wall near Range, and finally after unloading, the train heads for the yard at Glenwood Springs. Hope you all enjoyed.

To bad, Colorado doesn't use these folks to help create the CoCo service.

It's a land cruise operator - don' think anyone will pay $1200 from Denver to Colorado Springs...

Nice work!
Funny as a current TV game show prize it is still shown as the Rocky Mountaineer!

To bad you do not understand different service levels, different price levels, and private-unsubsidized vs government-subsidized operations

I believe that is the original operation up in the Canadian Rockies.

Funny how some people refuse to spend a few seconds checking facts.

Three of the four 3-day all-rail itineraries being offered on the Canyon Spirit website for September are listed as "sold out".

It's funny, the dispatchers are still calling them the Rocky Mountaineer, but that's probably because the engine call letters are still RM?? I don't remember the last two letters off the top of my head.

That's right, thanks. As noted the dispatcher is still noting the trains at the Rocky Mountaineer despite the rebranding, which is kind of funny.

Great pics!  I'm so glad to see it from the outside! My wife and I were inside on the inaugural run!  I posted a reply to another thread about it, incl two of my interior pics, but I'm no good at posting pics so they're rotated 90 degrees from where they belong!
