near rifle minor injuries  reported  , amtrak may do a bus bridge, 2 motors 5cars on the ground  us 6 closed, amtrak hit a flatbed not far away a year ago or so

derailed but upright.

Major difference but still a mess.

Rmr years past always has a bus that takes customers luggage and is their evacuation contingency plan  , yep everything in line upright , hard to believe tanker driver has minor injuries, was it stalled or just luck?  Denver post photos

6 Is holding at Grand Junction and 5 will likely stop at Glenwood. All things considered not a terrible bus bridge to have.

think Amtrak alerts says 5 is coming back to  denver.  Which is time consuming, but bus operators may not be available out there on the western slope,  so the train has to come to Denver , load up on an arrow bus lines bus or two go to g jct exchange passengers  Denver by midnight?  Wish Rfta or bustang could help them.  Anyway in this video you can see spirit passengers are being spirited away on their contracted bus that follows every train-- supposedly all train folks pax are a ok-- not sure if any cars, power even lost contact with the rail, looks like  loose this roundtrip, was hoping for everything on track, switch power and go, not that simple?

#5 is just arriving back in Denver at about 1 pm. I heard I-70 is closed due to snow near Vail so busses could have an issue, too.

i checked the cdot maps  acouple hours ago and now, openwet, and a little snow, RMR may run the sd45 up tommorrow---yay for no injuries to the rail folk truck driver, may stop and look next time, hope he is ok

It blows my mind every time something like this happens.

Glad there were no serious injuries or fatalities.

Thankfully the buses follow the train, so the passengers aren't stranded. 

i would guess they had to return to the train as they may have been ahead of it, unless they were still collecting baggs at the hotels,  think they have your baggs waiting for you at whereever you are staying, today is moab

Can confirm 5 is back in Denver with backwards consist. Engines 45 and 171 reversed from this morning. Snow is done here and 70 should be fine so Imagine they are going to bus to Grand Junction. Much longer bus ride.

Simple. Don't know how to drive

You have to be an idiot to be hit by a train.  Only exception is a mechanical problem, but 99% of the time, it's the idiot part.

Any word about when the Canyon Spirit will be able to operate again?

Does it have any spare equipment in the area?

i was hoping it could resume tommorrow, but it looks like the lead wheelsets are on the ground, a spare engine is probably going up tommorrow, so it seems their  goal would be resuming next tues perhaps, unless none of the cars went off the track, maybe some rail damage the sources were saying, maybe the could salvage a SLC departure, but the engine would have had to leave today to make it easier, i was hoping they could get it up for moab departure tommorrow  not too many spare passenger cars, only engine 8020 will be out.

#5 is operating about 3:45 down

#6 will be operating about 2 hours late

the truck may have been waiting for traffic on US 6 the patrol said, you cross the tracks with your truck you have to wait for traffic to clear on US 6 before you can pull out and clear the crossing
