Passenger Trains > Lake Shore Delay TonightDate: 08/02/06 17:20 Lake Shore Delay Tonight Author: mp16 CSX has imposed a 40 mph speed limit on trains operating between Boston and Worcester because of the heat wave. The noon departure of
the Lakeshore Connection to Albany was delayed until 1:08 pm. It took 4 hours to go the 98 miles to Springfield. Estimated arrival at Albany is 8:45pm That's 7 hrs, 45 mins for about 198 miles. The regular Lakeshore is estimated to depart to Chicago from albany at 8:50 pm, 2 hrs 25 mins. later than usual. Date: 08/02/06 18:34 Re: Lake Shore Delay Tonight Author: MEKoch Actually since the Lake Shore has such a ridiculous slow schedule from Boston to Albany and averages less than 40 mph (about 36 mph), a slow order of 40 mph should be no problem. It should run ON TIME!
Date: 08/02/06 19:20 Re: Lake Shore Delay Tonight Author: Jaap A max speed of 40 should give average of 25 mph on B&A
most commuter trains even at speeds of 80 mph only get averages of 45 mph. |
