Passenger Trains > Killing time at Fisherman's Wharf in San FranciscoDate: 10/14/06 20:42 Killing time at Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco Author: NI030 Had some time to kill in SF today so I wandered down to Fishman's Wharf for a few streetcars on the Muni's historic F Line route.
First is the #1010 which is painted in the San Franicisco Municipal Railway's 1939 Blue & Gold color scheme. Next is the #1052 which is painted in the colors of the Los Angeles Railway. ![]() ![]() ![]() Date: 10/14/06 20:57 Re: Killing time at Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco Author: NI030 #1059 is painted for the Boston Elevated Railway

If, on the night I shot those photos I posted under nostalgia, you told me that 25 years later such an operation would exist in SF, I would have laughed some body parts off.

But it looks good. Great pictures---thanks for posting (even the bus picture...LOL)! Date: 10/14/06 23:47 Re: Killing time at Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco Author: sp4ever Great shots! Thanks for posting. Re: #1053; it is displaying an interesting destination, i.e. "Nowhere in particular." How many transit agencies can you think of that would ever display such a flippant destination sign. Gotta love it.

The moniker is now built into all of the historic car fleet signs. It was a favorite destination to put up for charters.
UNfortunately, some bureaucrat at the Muni recently put a total ban on all charters. No charters at all. Dunno when that will be revoked, but people are working on it. Date: 10/15/06 21:57 Re: Killing time at Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco Author: poffcapt silagi Wrote:

Date: 10/15/06 23:05 Re: Killing time at Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco Author: DNRY122 Talk about bus photos--I have shots of the Muni 8 and 32 lines, the LA Metro 401, the San Jose VTA 74 (I think) and the Portland TriMet 5. What do they have in common? All have been replaced by electric railway service! There's also a section of parking lot in Sacramento which was taken for the Light Rail line. There is some justice in the world!
