Passenger Trains > Delays on the NECDate: 11/06/06 08:37 Delays on the NEC Author: rresor I know, it does seem unreasonable to talk about a 10-minute delay when Amtrak trains run a day late elsewhere on the network -- but on the other hand, the NEC is one of only a few places where Amtrak can actually offer competitive, reliable transportation.
I was booked this morning on 111, leaving PHL at 0655, arriving WAS at 0840. This is my morning train of preference; 151 at 0605 makes stops at Perryville, Aberdeen, and Edgewood, and arrives WAS at 0815. Well, 151 was posted 30 minutes late at PHL (no explanation), and actually departed at 0643 (38 mins late). 111 was right on time, but caught up with 151 at Edgewood and was on his blocks all the way to WAS, arriving at 0847 (7 mins late). 111 is often in at 0835 if there is no interference. Why was 151 late? Why couldn't 111 run around him (maybe south of Edgewood at the controlled sidings, or in BAL station? Who knows?
