Acela from up on high
Author: rfprr1

Back on a rainy January day, I shot the Acela swinging south over the New Jersey meadows with Snake Hill looming in the background:

Well, today's weather was not much better but still, a day off is a day off. I ventured out to climb Snake Hill. Here's a shot of Acela 2159 heading south just having cleared NJ Transit's Secaucus Jct station.
Some day, the weather and my day off will cooperate. Some day.

Actually a pretty good shot. I always wondered when going through there whether the view would be good from up there.

Yes it is. Also known as Secaucus Transfer, Frank Lautenburg Station and Allied Jct.

Great picture. What is really amazing to me, though, is ... only two cars on the six lane highway? Is that normal?

Depends on the time and the day. The NJ Turnpike splits at Newark and this half goes to the Lincoln Tunnel. The other half continues north to the G. Wash. Bridge. That part probably has a more constant stream. This part is heavily influenced by rush-hour traffic.

Remember, Monday marked the beginning of Passover. Much of the usual traffic was not on the roads yesterday.

Also, 2159 leaves NY at 1 pm, so it would be here about 1:07.
