Corzine fears overwhelming transit demand Author: RuleG Governor Corzine should welcome Bloomberg's initiative - not fear it and begin planning NOW to fund expansions for NJ Transit service.
Its ironic that the only mayor proposing congestion pricing is a Republican. Democratic politicians should embrace this initiative if they are serious about addressing transportation-related energy and air pollution issues as well as urban traffic congestion. They argue, with some justification, that mass transit is slow, and lacking in many areas. Date: 06/20/07 10:37 Re: Gov. Corzine fears overwhelming transit demand Author: Jishnu Lackawanna484 Wrote:

The Queens argument is the lack of mass transportation in much of Queens forces the residents to drive into Manhattan. You may or may not agree with that position, but that's it in a nutshell. It should be interesting to see how it plays out. |
