How many pictures of dented in nose of the Amtrak Genesis units have you seen? Well, the airlines are now in this too.

I have never seen a planes nose dented like this.

Looks like one of their passengers finally had enough and punched the plane in the nose! That is one lucky flight crew. A couple of feet higher and that bird would have been coming through the windshield.

On most airliners, the nose is made out of fiberglas or some type of composite material and covers the weather radar antenna.

The windshield is far more resistant than the nose, which only has to withstand the dynamic air pressure. The pressure bulkhead is aft of the aforementioned radar antenna.

True, but it isn't indesctructable. There have been several incidents of bird strikes shattering airliner windshields which usually results in the flight crew taking a trip to the hospital to have the glass removed.

What did Boeing say with the 707, of course off the cuff and as a joke. Their windshields were heated for bird strikes below 10000 feet. I think it went like this. The 707 could withstand a 70 lb bird at 250 knots or a 250 lb bird at 70 knots. Ouch!
That dent looks like a Canadian Honker weighing about 90 lbs at 250 knots. That should of been exciting.
