Cardinal OTP
Author: P

I'll be on the Cardinal e/b next week & thought I'd check the train's OTP recently to find it has been dismal arriving in DC 3 hours, 6 hours and 3 hours late the last 3 trips. That's pretty pathetic and out of character for the Cardinal trips I have been on over the years. What gives?
The Amtrak site doesn't give great info as to delays - maybe someone here knows what's going on?

According to Amtrak's website, in June, PO50 had a 0% OTP. Don't know what the deal is, unless the Buckingham Branch has gotten that bad. The only reason PO51 does better is because of the 2 hour dwell in Indianapolis and the huge amount of fat from Dyer to Chicago. Getting from Chicago to Cincinnati on time is very rare these days. Any support for routing it via a real railroad, NS, from Chicago to Cincy? Run it via the NKP to Ft. Wayne, then the New Castle District to Muncie and Richmond. About 20 miles longer, but I bet a lot faster.

Wouldn't it miss Indianapolis on that route? I would believe they wouldn't consider it for that reason.

Check www.amtrakdelays.com for last four weeks performance.

Freight trains and track work have made atk trains late everywhere.

Waits for connections. Broken down CSX on Monon, Trees on right of way-- West Virginia. Usually an hour late.. not 3 or 6.
