Passenger Trains > No Long Term Parking at St. Louis Amtrak StationDate: 07/28/08 10:20 No Long Term Parking at St. Louis Amtrak Station Author: mopac63 I have just returned from a trip to Buffalo, NY aboard the Lake Shore Limited. The first leg of my trip was from St. Louis to Chicago. The 6:35 am train to Chicago on Monday, 7/21 was sold out.
Signs are posted at the St. Louis Amtrak station that state: "There is no long term parking. City of St. Louis will ticket". However, the parking lot was completely filled with cars. Fortunately, I was being dropped off and didn't need to worry about parking. The temporary station is the one still being used. There were two hand printed signs warning about the no long term parking; one sign each being located at the 2 ticket windows inside the temporary station. The new station is not open yet. The only parking available (and the lot was full on 7/21) is at the temporary station. The overall condition of the parking lot is a mess, broken asphalt and gravel, with cars parked sort of haphazard rather than in defined spaces. Is it permissible (and safe) to do so, especially on overnight trips?
