The subject line led me to believe that the woman had fallen into a servicing pit, and I couldn't think of one at or near North Station (the diesel suburban part) that anyone but a wandering railfan might have fallen into. Then the link to the "Globe" led to the article explaining that it was the space between the rails of a "T" rapid transit line. Sometimes it takes a bit of digging.....

Having been raised in Boston, I can validate that term "pit" refers to the track below the station's passenger platform.

And today, 3 days later, it is the lead story on Good Morning America. What ever happened to all that instantaneous information we are supposed to be getting in this cyberage?? :-)
