Passenger Trains > Amtrak Calendars: Freight Charge OnlyDate: 01/05/10 10:21 Amtrak Calendars: Freight Charge Only Author: reindeerflame I ordered 2 Amtrak calendars, expecting to receive the AGR discount and pay a freight charge.
To my surprise, the Amtrak website came up with a box that needed to be filled in, in order to move to the next step. It seemed to be a box that was designed for a personal name, but was entitled "Amtrak employee name". So, I filled it in. The result now is that both calendars are being shipped for a grand total of $7.76, which is the shipping charge. The $16 charge for the discounted calendars is apparently being waived. Yes, the 2010 calendars are what was ordered and what arrived, from the Staples warehouse in St. Louis, MO. Thank you, Amtrak. Sometimes, a little inefficiency is a good thing. I also noticed the "Amtrak Employee" section, which I thought was weird.

Date: 01/06/10 15:42 Re: Amtrak Calendars: Freight Charge Only Author: reindeerflame There was one box in the check out process which was apparently set on a default setting "employee personal information".
That led to a box requesting some more information. I filled it out, and the result is no cost for the calendars, no sales tax to California, and only a $7.76 UPS shipping charge (which may now be higher after 1/1/10 as a result of UPS rate increases). Apparently the other options in the box other than "employee personal information" are "credit card" and something else. But there was an opportunity to enter a credit card later in the process.
