Anybody know why #3 had the baggage car on the rear
Author: SD45X

This morning it was on the rear of #3. Did they run into problems? and have to run around the train?

I do not know the reason, but I do know it was on the rear out of Chicago last Sunday and tonight out of Chicago as well.

I seen that also and i was wondering why it was on the rear of the train also? It almost looked like they hooked on to #4s train cars, without turning them and just left with it that way. That's just my guess.

Could have been they could not complete the circut through the car, so placed it on the rear.

However to complete the story, was the bag car behind the coaches? or had the entire train, run backwards, with bag car next to the Crew sleeper.

And the Southwest Chief is the only WESTERN long distance train serving Chicago that is having such a problem? No issues with the Empire Builder, CA Zephyr, Texas Eagle, City of New Orleans (although this is already wyed as it comes in to Chicago I believe)?

SD45X Wrote: Not so sure why the baggage car was at the end but on some rare occasions I noticed #3 would sometimes have its entire consist backwards coaches behind the locos and the sleepers baggage at the end.
