Passenger Trains > #3 and #4 for the 20th and 21st???Date: 12/20/11 08:45 #3 and #4 for the 20th and 21st??? Author: Phil1 Other than the BNSF leader(#3 on 19) is there any word as to how the blizzard conditions affected either #3 or #4 through Kansas? The weather channel had Garden City live this morning.I looked like #4 was early to CHI on the 19th, but that would have put it ahead of the blizzard.
Phil Blommendahl Getzville, NY Date: 12/20/11 09:24 Re: #3 and #4 for the 20th and 21st??? Author: KimHeusel Looks like conditions in western Kansas are killing 3 and 4. 4 left Trinidad about 2 hours late yesterday evening but was over 7 hours late at Dodge City early this morning. 3 was less than an hour late leaving Newton Monday night but over 4 hours late at Dodge City. This was after it was 20 minutes early at Kansas City, leaving on time.
Kim Heusel Date: 12/20/11 09:31 Re: #3 and #4 for the 20th and 21st??? Author: HoggerMatt Part of the delay for #4 was account the lead unit BNSF 2868 died and would not restart. They had to dig out switches and set the motor out.

I don't know how they are crewing these trains as the highways are closed no dogcatching except by train Date: 12/20/11 10:22 Re: #3 and #4 for the 20th and 21st??? Author: Cumbresfan HoggerMatt Wrote:

Author: HoggerMatt And now #4 (18) has departed Newton after adding the BNSF 6152 to the point. Departed at 12:30pm (9hr 31min late).

Looks like they're planning ahead for an extra unit now if they've already gotten one on there before ABQ. Train is 3 hours down, however, maybe there was a mechanical problem.

And now estimated in to Topeka at 2:47, a mere 9 1/2 hours late. Wow! - Jeff Date: 12/20/11 16:57 Re: #3 and #4 for the 20th and 21st??? Author: ProAmtrak Sounds like No. 4 had one thing (locomotive problems) go bad, and the blizzard addin' to it! This sucks!
