Storms Delaying #49 ????

Lake Shore left Penn Station at 5:16 pm instead of
3:45 pm. #449 took 6 hrs to get to Albany, arriving 24
mins late

Combined trainleft Albany 1 Hr., 16 mins late at 8:21pm
and just left Utica at 10:32 pm(1 Hr., 48 mins late)

Estimated arrivals...
Buffalo 90 mins late at 1:25 am
Cleveland 56 mins late at 4:23 am
Chicago...34 mins early at 9:11 am. Somewhat optimistic.

Train now estimated to arrive Buffalo
2 hrs late and Cleveland 1 Hr., 24 mins late
at 4:51 am

While in this case it doesn't say if #449 contributed to the delay at Albany, I'm always amazed how long it takes Amtrak to combine/split trains at places like Albany and Spokane. In Europe, they often switch cars in and out at various locations and it's done in minutes, not hours. And crews doing so look like they are in a rush, not inconvenienced from their break.

It takes them about 20 mins to do the actual shuffling. The rest is just padding. CSX does not have stellar record in time keeping.

29 was also delayed equally by storms. 29 & 49 are running about 15 mintes apart this morning.
