How far is this station from the Hyatt House Hotel?
Walking distance with a roll on handcarry?

Thanks (will be there on the 23d to board the CA Zepyhr the next morning).

Hal

It's a quick walk over the pedestrian bridge to the other side of the tracks and you're there! There's an elevator up and down on each side of the bridge so no worries with your carry-on luggage.

Here is a shot taken from the balcony of a room in the Hyatt House. As Amtrak288 mentioned, it is a simple jaunt up/across/down the elevator-equipped pedestrian bridge from the HH parking lot to the Emeryville station.

Great picture to show where it is. And just to help a bit more, you see the pedestrian overcrossing above the locomotives? That is what you will use to get to the hotel. Simple.

Near the far side of the bridge is an excellent food court, the "Emery Market Place.". Lots to choose from.

DH and I stayed here in February for this reason too. I figure it took us about 7 minutes to walk out the front door, thru the parking lot, to the elevator, cross the bridge, down the other elevator and into the station. You could save yourself 30 seconds by walking out the back door from the reception area that we discovered on the way back. LOL!

That food court gets mixed reviews. There are several other restaurants nearby, one to two blocks away at Bay Street Mall-PF Chang's and CA Pizza Kitchen among others. There is also a shopping mall about a block plus away that has a Trader Joe's, Togo's and Jamba Juice in it. At Trader Joe's you could pick up all sorts of goodies to toss into the mw in your room if you are just wanting to put your feet up and railfan from your hotel window! :)

There also is a Subway across from the train station but I don't remember what time it opens.

Looks like PV, The Observatory, in the pic. Wonder why it's at the front of the train?

By being in front, its next to the stepdown dorm car, for access to rest of train.

The Observatory is a beautiful car! So incredibly nice on the interior.

Don't know if Amtrak allows PV's to request a specific placement, but could be placed there for better forward viewing of the scenery without the superliners in front.
