Passenger Trains > Chicago Christmas TrainDate: 11/23/12 18:58 Chicago Christmas Train Author: DR04 The first run of this year's Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) Holiday Train happened today starting it's run at Chicago's Midway Airport.

I don't know how the Chicago Transit Authority prevents its trains from getting tagged, but in all of the times I've visited Chicago and rode the L, I never saw any cars with graffiti. Instant crispie-critter death is what a tagger would get if they are standing on the 3rd rail side of a car with spray can in hand. 600 volts DC, nearly unlimited amperage worth of instant death. Unlike other cities third rail systems, the third rail in Chicago is completely exposed, no protected covering, and sits a couple of inches higher than the running rails. I suspect that taggers figure the risk isn't worth the rewards and stay clear. Those that don't are quietly buried by their relatives and probably not reported to the media, either.
