Passenger Trains > Late halloween for Amtrak

Got a headsup this morning about another pumpkin starlight on the Coast Starlight #11. She was about 25 minutes late into San Jose, CA so I got great lighting at College park and the San Carlos bridge.

1. Meet with a northbound plug at College Park
2. Planes trains and automobiles.
3. AMTK/BNSF 11 head south with a 30 minute late Starlight

Nice photos, no fog remaining in San Jose, and 3 sleepers on the Starlight.

Thanks, Yeah it was wet and foggy last night, but cleared out tomorrow. Im hoping for rain this week for some more dramatic shots

whats up with the platform design on 5&6 tracks ... all that room and they couldn't design a straight line platform contour ... i mean really whats up wit dat ??? ... nice photos btw

I don't know an exact answer, but track 5 and below have been there for years. Those awnings are the originals for at least the last 20 years. All of the tracks beyond that are brand new. But thats a good question. Why didn't they straighten out the tracks when they built the new add ons?

Thanks! I live down the street from the Santa Clara depot and never think to go to College Park. Its a nice underrated spot to shoot in the morning

I agree about College Park. It's a great spot. The funky old College Depot passenger shelter is pretty cool, too. It's about the only trace of the old SP on the line that hasn't been modernized by Caltrain.

In fact, I think I need to visit College Park on my next swing through the Bay Area.

Let me know when you make that trip! Yeah thats a great spot especially at 200mm +. Looks like the same place just 100 yards north/west
