Small 'R' beneath 'F' on Rotem cabcar
Author: 567Chant

My brother and I were nosing around LAUS, and he noticed that a Rotem cabcar had a small letter 'R' beneath the 'F'.
What does this denote?
TIA!

In the case of Metrolink's Rotem cab cars: FR = Freaking Repulsive (clean version).

OK, my brother found them repugnant, too.

In all the fuss about what "F" and "R" mean you guys have missed the "T" down near the step.

The plot thickens, no?

Yes,they are butt ugly.Makes you want to throw up.

What I noticed other than mentioned above, notice the grabs.
On the right side one is up and the other is down,on the left side
both are down. Also notice that the left side are "drop" grabs.
When I worked for the railroad both had to be facing up.
When facing up the bend (I hope you can follow me on this)is on the outside.
There is a reason for this,it keeps your foot from slipping off.
So,are these right or wrong? Did someone make a mistake?
Have the AAR and FRA rules changed?

They are all part of a code used by the Illuminit to communicate. These cars will be used during a time of national emergency to transport detainees to prison camps around the country, and these codes indicate who and where the cars will be used to transport. It's all there on the internet guys.

That top right-side grab is installed wrong, I believe --- cars 669, 671 and 681 (in my photo files from 2012) all have both grabs installed in the same position as the bottom one on 638 pictured above...

Thing is those grabs aren't meant to be stood on as they are just handholds when standing on the small step.

Yeah, "F" means Front exceptn' when it's the (R) Rear.
