Even the Bakersfield Californian, in conservative Kern County, says high-speed rail will be built:

I hope you're not holding your breath on the daily Sunset, or the restoration of Amtrak's New Orleans-Jacksonville service, or the restoration of the Pioneer or Desert Wind. Remember, Los Angeles Union Station took more than 20 years to complete from the time it was proposed. Yes, there was litigation.

Hey, if something positive brews on the LDT sector before a train runs in Ca. HSR, I'm gonna be laughing to the bank!
