Passenger Trains > today's #29 Is Already LateDate: 03/12/13 16:27 today's #29 Is Already Late Author: mp16 Departed Washington on time at 4:05 pm
Left Rockville 6:55 pm instead of scheduled 4:29 pm ETA Cumberland 9:52 pm(2 hrs., 38 mins. late) ETA Pittsburgh 1:51 am(2 hr., 03 mins. late) Auto accident, fire near tracks (hopefully not) or some other reason ? Date: 03/12/13 20:23 Re: today's #29 Is Already Late Author: GenePoon Amtrak Train 29(12) crapped out, almost right out of the station.
Several MARC trains on the Brunswick Line were delayed behind it and had to be routed around it. In its bulletins, MARC was specific that it was Amtrak 29 that broke down and blocked the line. As of a few minutes ago Amtrak train status has estimated the following arrival times Pittsburgh 2:19 am (2 hrs., 31 mins. late) Cleveland 5:03 am (2 hrs., 10 mins. late. Maybe some early risers can see both the Capitol and the Lake Shore at Cleveland Toledo 6:47 am (1 hr., 39 mins. late) Chicago 9:44 am ( 59 mins. late) It will be interesting to see how realistic these estimated arrival times are Date: 03/13/13 03:30 Re: today's #29 Is Already Late Author: mp16 # 29 arrived Cleveland 5:21 am (2 hrs. 40 mins. late)
( #48 arrived Cleveland 5:31 am OT) # 29 at Elyria 5:49 am (2 hrs., 20 mins. late) Estimated arrival times are now... Toledo 6:59 am (1 hr., 51 mins. late) Chicago 9:56 am (1 hr., 11 mins. late) Date: 03/13/13 07:00 Re: today's #29 Is Already Late Author: amanwtf Amtrak 29 didn't crap out at all, it ran past a red stop signal leaving DC, that's the real reason. 2&1/2 hour delay.
Date: 03/13/13 07:25 Re: today's #29 Is Already Late Author: Ptolemy Explain this to me: if a train runs past a red signal, how does the engineer know he or she has done this, other than having a major disaster? It seems that if the engineer had seen the red signal in the first place, he or she would have stopped, and it strains credulity for an engineer to say "Oh, I ran a red signal a while back."

Why did the Crew ran past a red stop signal just starting out in few miles from D.C.? Date: 03/13/13 08:12 Re: today's #29 Is Already Late Author: GenePoon amanwtf Wrote:

Notice I didn't say it broke down...don't like to actually SAY a crew violated the rules, as the actual findings from the investigation may be different. # 49 arrived Chicago 9:22 am instead of scheduled 9:45 am Date: 03/13/13 16:14 Re: today's #29 Is Already Late Author: mp16 Someone was wondering how and why 49 got ahead of 29
I assume it was a result of 49 being in Cleveland at 3:48 am whereas 29 was not there until around 5:20 am(2 hrs., 25 mins. late) |
