Do we know it was a terrorist incident?

Just checked CNN, NPR, Fox. No one (not even Fox) is calling it a terrorist event. Good time to avoid labels. I suggest an edit.

First reports were of three gunmen shooting people randomly.

Now officials are verifying one gunman who is dead, not confirming whether others escaped.

I'm not editing anything; when posted, that was the story.

How close is the Navy Yard to L'Enfant plaza station and the VRE / Amtrak / CSX lines in the area?

Not that close. Also, what else would you call someone who does what this (or these) loonies did?

News reports say that the shooter who is dead is a Navy veteran from New York.

Very sad.

Prayers for the survivors and the families of those who lost their lives.

Call them lunatics (maybe in this case), criminals, saboteurs or even agents provocateur, but "terrorists" is a political word--our Minutemen were Britain's "terrorists"--eh? A very bad day, no one is safe from sick people and criminals with guns, even first graders.

And to raise the terrorist banner at every incident is exactly what the terrorists want. . . .

Sadly, we have become a society that Super Glues itself to any act that imparts death, injury, abject pain, and suffering as 'terrorism'; the REALLY sad thing about this is that we seem to go about our daily routine as if this is nothing to get worked up over. I am 57 years of age, a Baby Boomer by all facets of the definition and I find myself trying to connect these dots of the 'here and now'; I'm failing miserably at this attempt. God only knows what my Mom (82) and my Dad (also 82) tends to think in their moments of reflection concerning the present time frame........
