Shows Holliday,KS 1425. not sure if it's moving or not. Some detour traffic problems?? Think they are dogcatching a train west of Topeka, forget the siding name across from the airbase.

The "good word" from a friend is that no one knew this special was running today until it showed up on DS-3s territory at Santa Fe Jct. They apparently sent at least 10 eastbounds via Topeka throughout the day so far. Would love to see the Chief's turnover from this morning to see if it noted this train running or not.

Lucky they're only going to Dodge City for the night...

1615 or 1715 local at Topeka give or take. My mother in law went out to shoot it and I just got a text a couple minutes ago that she scored. She said the chief didn't care about it...Why it was late.

Crew went east to rest out at Dodge City to bring it west in the morning. 0900 call at Dodge.

Sitting in the siding at Pauline. Crew dies at 9:30 PM. We are 4:45 from Dodge City. You do the math...

I'm pretty sure BNSF knew the train was coming, just not sure exactly when. It was not a priority Amtrak move, so I don't believe it was in any real hurry to get anywhere. There were some signal issues on the Topeka sub during the early afternoon that delayed some EB trains arrival at Holliday and so extended Amtrak's wait at Holliday.

Sounds like a breakdown in communications at Ft Worth.. Lots on their plate at the moment though..

Thanks for the true story RKB, was thinking the "good word" was RR gossip like normal.
