Passenger Trains > PV's in the pines this morningDate: 09/23/13 09:54 PV's in the pines this morning Author: photobob Under threatening sky's this morning, six private cars bring up the rear of the Coast Starlight. The cars are heading to the AAPRCO Convention in Seattle. The cars were the Scottish Thistle, Pacific Sands, Tioga Pass, Pacific Sunset, Virginia City and the Silver Solarium bringing up the rear. The first photo is at the Dunsmuir Station running a couple of hours late. The second shot is at Upton about fifteen miles north of Dunsmuir.

I think those handrails are called Lucite, and inside the Lucite is a string of lights. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong. Date: 09/23/13 20:58 Re: PV's in the pines this morning Author: rwullich They are indeed lucite. There are no lights in the lucite. They are illuminated from the base and the "lights" you see are actually the screws holding the railing on. Think of them as the first fiber optics.
