X-Train to quit, promote Amtrak service resumption
Author: GenePoon

A report has come in that says Las Vegas Railway Express, the "X Train," has given
up on its plans to operate its own train, and is now pushing for a resumption of
Amtrak service between Los Angeles and Las Vegas, with its own cars tacked onto
the rear end. An Amtrak spokesperson has confirmed that "X Train" has approached
Amtrak with the idea.

The report says X-Train is dropping its agreement with Union Pacific to run a passenger
train on UP tracks.

Can't wait for this thread to develop. Wonder how much loot these bandits ended up with?

They "claim" they made a million plus in profit in the last quarter. Must have sold a lot of T shirts.

A million plus in profit?

Heck, why should anybody actually run trains? Just SAY you are going to run trains,
but sell T-shirts instead!

How could you lose????

If you meant it then you wouldn't have written it.

What other shoe? There was a second shoe? I thought it was clear from the beginning.

Lots of sand to pound between Los Angeles and Las Vegas!

X-train could never have broken even due to the cost of operation and equipment maintenance. Probably can say the same about the other issue raised in this thread. Good ideas often cannot be brought to fruition due to a lack of enough due diligence in the development process. In both cases there wasn't nearly enough spade work done early on.

I'm shocked....SHOCKED I tell ya! Who ever would have guessed that the X-Train would never come to fruition? And here this whole time I was trusting BidHitter. (Yes all tongue-in-cheek for those who can't figure it out....no, I am NOT shocked).

From 200 mph excitement, lots of PR, Harry Reid getting his puss in the news, lots of CO2 being generated -- down to a lousy plea for the resumption of Amtrak service. What a comedown.

Could this further morph into a Desert Wind, assuming 3 & 4 get truncated to KC ?
(Yes, there is a cost also to rerouting onto the Transcon that no one will want to pay).
