Solana Beach to Tucson - What is there lam?

I tried to book Solana Beach to Tucson on March 9th. The website will only give me a bus to Irvine and then a transfer to Amtrak to get to LAX. I don't get it. Looks like the Surfliner runs all day long. Is the Surfliner not part of Amtrak?

Surfliners south of Irvine cancelled for bridge work, link to Amtrak advisory was posted yesterday.
