MBTA Places 1st of New Fuel Efficient Locos in Service
Author: Red

From Progressive Railroading Online, this morning--Wabtec/MPI MP40-3C units. Are these the ones with the GEVO-12 or the standard EMD 710 prime movers--the article doesn't specify? Most of this model have been coming out lately with EMD 710s, but I forget which of the commute RRs special ordered GE prime movers? Also, no pix. Hoping for some soon?

Was #2001 at North Station on a Haverhill Line train. Only one in revenue service, so far.

This would be one of the GEVO-12 units, which are designated as MPI HSP46. Completely different model, not related in any way to the MPI MP40PH
