Passenger Trains > Supergangs comingDate: 07/30/14 10:53 Supergangs coming Author: SD45X Heard the LaJunta sub getting 2 gangs in October. Las Animas JCT to Garden City, KS. Ties first then rail behind.
Guess the Chief will survive. Of note, rail has been picked up three times already. So until it's spiked down its a rumor. Posted from Android Date: 07/30/14 11:09 Re: Supergangs coming Author: joemvcnj This may be the unofficial results of Baordman's/BNSF powwow out west.
But I think BNSF's motivation has more to do with their meltdowns on the High Line and The Q, that they don't want a repeat on the SF Transcon. Date: 07/30/14 11:10 Re: Supergangs coming Author: ts1457 From the subject, I thought this might be a political post about the border situation.
If BNSF has to do some work itself for the freight side, that should lower the cost of keeping the SW Chief on its current route. My understanding is that track class 3 for 40 mph freight will get you 60 mph passenger. Not the best, but something we could live with. Promising news indeed. Edited 1 time(s). Date: 07/30/14 12:03 Re: Supergangs coming Author: The_Chief_Way guess what BNSF Sub is currently hosting crude oil trains and vehicle trains?
( hint: it begins in KS and ends in CO ) Date: 07/30/14 14:14 Re: Supergangs coming Author: PumpkinHogger Watch, as soon as the trackwork is done they'll find crude to frack in western Kansas. North Dakota round 2.
Like in ND, we'll be reminiscing about jointed rail and no freight interference. On BNSF when the track gets fixed up, the traffic follows. Date: 07/30/14 16:31 Re: Supergangs coming Author: joemvcnj If this all happened 6-8 years ago, Amtrak would have got off, BNSF would have torn it up.

Yes and these gangs have been planned over the last several years now but were sent elsewhere at the last minute. Like SD45X, I'll believe it when the welded rail is spiked down. Date: 07/30/14 20:57 Re: Supergangs coming Author: stash Why reminese about jointed rail?

If it was good why does the industry replace with welded? New railroads don't use it tall. jo-tower Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > What's wrong with jointed rail? Date: 07/31/14 05:45 Re: Supergangs coming Author: Sneebly stash Wrote:

Much of the jointed rail on the LaJunta sub was made in 1945. After 69 years it is simply worn out. The modern practice is to replace jointed rail with welded wherever possible. Sneebly Date: 07/31/14 12:00 Re: Supergangs coming Author: The_Chief_Way or before it breaks, not after !
Date: 07/31/14 14:16 Re: Supergangs coming Author: ProAmtrak Won't surprise me if they get this done (if it happens) and No. 3 and 4 gets at least back up to 79 unless they do want to put it back up to 90!
