Did they leave eastbound passengers in Charleston to be bused along route?

Was the westbound also turned around? Passengers bused past the problem in each direction?

Interesting that Dixieland reported that Cardinal EB called at Montgomery WV, some distance east of wye, at 10:15 am. That would have called for reversing direction to reach the wye.

Dixieland reports Cardinal WB last stop at Culpeper VA at 12:47 pm before disruption. First opportunity to turn train is wye at Gordonsville on the BB. If busing, probably do so at Culpeper. Cardinal EB normally scheduled to depart Culpeper at 4:11 pm to points north.

There is some sort of a train just getting to Indy, 6 hours late. Must have been 50 was turned into 51.
