Passenger Trains > Comet or Calif cars on #702?

For awhile San Joaquin #702 was using the Comet cars. Last time I rode it July 4th, there were the regular Amtrak California cars. Does anyone know what they'll be using tomorrow morning 8/21?

As of recent the Comet cars are back on the 712/717 schedule. I've seen them on 712 in the morning the past few weeks. The 702/703/714/715 schedule has been using standard California Cars.

I called the yard to check for you-
They're lined up to go out on 712 tomorrow (the 21st)

Two questions for those of you in the know:

If one set of Comet cars is on 712/717... what trains are using the second set of Comet cars? I'm guessing 711/718.

Why have Comet cars being switched between the different runs? They started off testing on 712/717, switched to 711/718, then to 714/703/702/715 now back to 712/717. Were they causing too many disruptions on a particular run?

Wednesday's 717 looked like this, with F59PHI 2001 on the west end and cabbage 90229 on the east end:

I want to say it looked like that on Monday as well (it was another day that wasn't Wednesday this week). And I have only seen one set running on 712/717. I do recall seeing a bunch of the cars and NPCU's in the yard during the day. Can't say if they are held in as a spare set and only one is used mainline at a time. Maybe our yard folks can bring in some insight :)
