Passenger Trains > LD train arrivals at Chicago today

Long Distance trains arrived at Chicago Union Station today, September 13, 2014 as follows:

#4 - 2 hrs, 20 mins late.
#6 - 5 hrs, 16 mins late. Left Emeryville 4 hrs, 57 mins late. Anyone know about this?
#8 - Left Portage 6 hrs, 38 mins late. Left Seattle 10 mins late.
#22 - 2 hrs, 57 mins late. Service Disruption.
#29 - 4 hrs, 47 mins late.
#49 - 3 hrs, 34 mins late.
#51 - OT
#58 - 1 min early.

All trains departed their originating stations within 5 mins of on time (or were reported on time at some point in their route) except #6 and #8.

#6 leaving Emeryville really late usually has to do with #5 arriving really late the night before or early in the morning. In this case it was the #5 being led by the UP unit that arrived sometime in the morning hours.

So, how is this affecting ridership? Are we getting more than the usual "Never agains" even after they've been informed? I'll assume that the trains are still connecting at Chicago? I suppose the bright side is you don't have to wait in the lounge at Chicago as long to make a connection with a western train?

For me this means that I don't have time to walk down to the French Market, find the cheese monger and get some really good cheese to nibble on. Oh, the trial of travel by train. :-) clikty kalck!
