Passenger Trains > New "Person of Interest" IRT Subway HeadquartersDate: 10/01/14 07:26 New "Person of Interest" IRT Subway Headquarters Author: csxmonsubfan Those of you that watched CBS's Person of Interest last night saw their new headquarters, an old abandoned IRT subway station. This was a set built for the show using an actual subway car acquired from California. Entertainment Weekly Magazine got a tour of the set which is fascinating. http://insidetv.ew.com/2014/10/01/person-of-interest-new-headquarters-subway/
They did such a good job you'd swear it was the real thing. Going to be a good season! Date: 10/01/14 08:47 NYC Underground Author: NewRiverGeorge Thought maybe it was a museum exhibit somewhere...indeed it looks believable. Particularly so because of the stories about the presidential car locked in under the Manhattan hotel, the closed off tunnels that have been investigated by the Discovery Channel, the secret collection of radiation proofed passenger traincars that were on hand to transport executives to the bomb shelters in West Virginia, etc.

There's a large concourse under Layfayette street where Brooklyn and Manhattan bridge trains would reverse, now being considered for an art venue.

"the" presidential car. It's an old maintenance of way converted baggage car. The only US presidential railroad car ever designated solely for use of POTUS is the Ferdinand Magellan, which has been designated a national landmark, and is part of the permanent collection of the Gold Coast Railroad Museum in Miami, Florida. Yes the siding under the hotel has been used for presidential visits, but it isn't "secret", and it shows up on GCT track diagrams that predate the hotel. - Bruce NewRiverGeorge Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Thought maybe it was a museum exhibit > somewhere...indeed it looks believable. > Particularly so because of the stories about the > presidential car locked in under the Manhattan > hotel, the closed off tunnels that have been > investigated by the Discovery Channel, the secret > collection of radiation proofed passenger > traincars that were on hand to transport > executives to the bomb shelters in West Virginia, > etc. Date: 10/01/14 10:43 NYC Underground Author: NewRiverGeorge And those were not aliens in New Mexico...it was a weather balloon.

Date: 10/01/14 19:58 Re: NYC Underground Author: DNRY122 As soon as action moved to the new underground HQ, my wife called me in to watch. I've only been to New York a few times, so I'm not an expert on the subway system, but the set sure looked real, and played into the stories I'd read about the stations that were bypassed during system reconfigurations. I'm curious about the car--it looks more like an LA Red Line car, but I didn't know of any of them that were surplus. Maybe it was one of the non-operable models that was used by Metro for advertising purposes.
