Passenger Trains > 29 and 49 photos

After our Amtrak trip out east last month I decided that I just HAD to get over there to Indiana and check out that line in person. Here are a few photos.

1. Capitol Limited is WB through La Porte IN. I wanted to include the old station in the shot but it wasn't easy to do, and I'm not totally thrilled with this photo. It was something like 1 1/2 hrs late; not too bad, considering what it has been.

2&3. I relocated to the absolute signals at the west end of the siding west of town for the Lake Shore. I can remember when most of Amtrak's trains were big; it's nice to see one that still is!

4. I was happy to see the Viewliner diner.

5. I like Heritage Fleet, even if it is just a baggage car.

Thanks for posting. The Capitol has joined the ranks of one-unit wonders, so its only a matter of time until
it conks out somewhere.

It appears the Cap didn't lose it's lounge after all.

Man! It looks like you could eat off that Princeton platform, and the grass is trimmed right up to the edge. I imagine the city takes care of the depot.

This particular set had its transition dorm car (39032) and cafe-lounge (33027) removed upon it's arrival in Chicago, IL on Oct. 29, 2014.

Train 30 departed later that same day with the now standard one locomotive and five cars. (179, 32082, 32031, 37004, 31025, 34056).

Hmm, wonder when NS replaced two of the signal heads on the bridge at Pinola.
