They did one in Canada many years ago and it worked great. It was ruled "To Expensive". The US didn't want any part of it because they knew the answer as well as we did. They will spend a bunch of money to tell us what is already known. Then it will fade into the sunset. Its like the head-on in Kelso where they were going to install the override if a crew member didn't make the proper move. That was over 20 years ago. Or look at the device to plug the train from the rear end by radio. Canada installed it years before on their trains and it paid off in a few months by stopping a pinched hose run away. (I have had my share over the years but we had someone on the caboose to pull the air. WCTR cars were famous for it.) But it took the US roads years and years to do by dragging their feet and because it was to expensive. Does Cajon ring a bell ?

What was the old saying, "Uphill slow and downhill fast, tonnage first and safety last. "
