Passenger Trains > # 29(12/01)... What Happened ?

Departed Washington 7:27 pm rather than scheduled 4:05 pm.
Due Pittsburgh 4:16 am...4 hrs., 16 mins. late
ETA Chicago(if all goes well) at 11:40 am rather than 8:45 am

# 30 is only an hour or so late at Cleveland at 3:06 am

I love it when someone posts "train No. so and so is ONLY one hour late." Guess we have accepted mediocrity. In much of Europe, a one hour late train would be cause for several apology's and an investigation as to what went wrong.

I would hope that someone in Washington would investigate why the train departed WAS 3 hours late. They had 24 HOURS to prepare that set of equipment for departure. 24 hours to get things right, correct and ready.

Sometimes they have to wait for something on the incoming set. :-(

ETA Toledo 9:41 am(4 hrs., 33 mins. late)

ETA Chicago 12:30 pm instead of scheduled 8:45 am

If this equipment has to return to WAS tonight it will be a quick turnaround

# 49 is expected to arrive CHI about 05 mins late

I don't know that it's related, but today's Cumberland [MD] Times-News has the following report:

"Teen killed by Amtrak train in Hyndman

HYNDMAN, Pa. — A 16-year-old Hyndman boy who was walking in the middle of the railroad tracks Sunday night was killed when a westbound Amtrak passenger train struck him, according to Pennsylvania State Police at Bedford.

The accident occurred at 8:05 p.m. about two-tenths of a mile southeast of Schellsburg Street in Hyndman.

State police were assisted by the Hyndman Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad, Bedford County Coroner’s Office, and Amtrak and CSX Police.

The incident remains under investigation."

Note that the story reports the incident as occurring Sunday night, not Monday.

It is getting to be that if a subject matter is not on the SAT exam nor is there a Smartphone App, they don't know any better

Train finally arrived Chicago at 2:09 pm(5 hrs.. 24 mins.late)

Late departure from Washington, was due to car 34094 shopped for a bad coil spring and a bad order coupler. There were NO replacement cars in the yard, so they cut out car 34134 off inbound train 30, which didn't arrive Washington until 220 pm, 1 hour 10 late. 5 deadhead cars , which are needed for Train # 7 of December 3rd, were also added to the head end,,, Train departed 3 hours,22 minutes late

Inbound Train 30 was late due to following CSX freight Q 36801 between Pittsburgh and Connellsville.

As I suspected. Someone in mechanical did not do their job until it was too late to repair the car.....

Nothin' new there, especially if it was having that problem from Chicago too!
