Passenger Trains > Train Number for Amtrak Special to Hialeah?Date: 12/18/14 05:00 Train Number for Amtrak Special to Hialeah? Author: Narr8rdanny Does anyone yet have a CSXT symbol for the Amtrak new baggage car train from Philly to Hialeah?
I'm guessing it will be a P-9XX something. I hope to see it in daylight in Auburndale. Danny Harmon Tampa Date: 12/18/14 05:04 Re: Train Number for Amtrak Special to Hialeah? Author: Narr8rdanny OK, I just read on a Facebook group that it will be P-844.
Hoping to confirm that with an eyewitness report. Danny Harmon Tampa Date: 12/18/14 05:49 Re: Train Number for Amtrak Special to Hialeah? Author: SandHouseTalk 844 was Wednesday's train Albany-New York

Thanks for the updated info. I wonder if VIPs are going along with the special delivery? Date: 12/18/14 06:32 Re: Train Number for Amtrak Special to Hialeah? Author: strench707 Narr8rdanny Wrote:

Amtrak specials are 8xx. CSX Passenger specials are P9xx. CSX already has a P844 running on its system, its a MARC train to Baltimore. Expect some random P9xx number. I started to type a question as to why CSX would have a number of a train running purely on the NEC, but then I remembered about the secondary line. :) Date: 12/18/14 07:38 Re: Train Number for Amtrak Special to Hialeah? Author: buckeyetom Very interesting thread. Why are all of these new baggage cars going to Florida?

It had to have taken some effort to corral the military veterans' unit and the Phase 3 unit to operate on this special. Date: 12/18/14 09:44 Re: Train Number for Amtrak Special to Hialeah? Author: Jishnu NS1111 Wrote:

Because Hialeah is the maintenance base for the Viewliner fleet. Date: 12/18/14 12:07 Re: Train Number for Amtrak Special to Hialeah? Author: ffrailey The symbol is already up on the CSX system: P93718. Here are the highlights:
Virginia Avenue (DC) 9:10 pm Richmond 11:02-11:08 pm Rocky Mount 1:20 am Florence 4:14-4:21 am Charleston 6:05 am Savannah 7:50 am Jax 9:53-10:04 am Orlando 12:55 pm Dyer 4:15 pm Deerfield Beach 5:01 pm Hialeah 7:05 pm This is a machine-generated schedule, so anything can happen. Fred Date: 12/19/14 02:32 Re: Train Number for Amtrak Special to Hialeah? Author: Narr8rdanny Apparently it's P-937. I figured it would be a P-9 something on the CSX.
Looks like I'll be in Auburndale this afternoon. Danny Harmon Tampa Date: 12/19/14 06:28 Re: Train Number for Amtrak Special to Hialeah? Author: Jishnu ffrailey Wrote:

Amtrak Train Status says that it is scheduled for 1:07pm into Orlando. The other schedule that I have seen puts it into Orlando at 2:55pm and Miami at 8:55pm. It passed Richmond at 11:59pm last night. Haven't heard what has happened to it since then. Just saw a video of it passing through Fayetteville but no time given. I suppose we will know soon enough for sure. Date: 12/19/14 06:38 Re: Train Number for Amtrak Special to Hialeah? Author: cforssi Why would they take all of these cars down to Hialeah? Seems like a waste to me. Why not dump them at Sunnyside yard? Making a trip down to Miami seems foolish and wasteful but then again that is Amtrak.

All Eastern stuff is cycled through there. Additionally Amtrak is using this move as a publicity event Danny Harmon Tampa Posted from iPhone Date: 12/19/14 07:47 Re: Train Number for Amtrak Special to Hialeah? Author: Jishnu Passed Savannah at 9:30am

The is no truth this was done as a publicity event. The fact is when the testing of the prototypes was complete and officially we could move them it was easier to move them all in one block than a few at a time over many days. Of course the publicity doesnt hurt either. The CAPE & GROVE were added for sleeping space for the delivery staff of amtrak & caf (who are doing additional road testing of the 18 additional cars)instead of using a revenue sleeper which is needed elsewhere. Second block departed caf today arriving Hialeah Monday as planned. Date: 12/20/14 11:22 Re: Train Number for Amtrak Special to Hialeah? Thanx in advance. |
