All,

Remember, the General Manager of a large public transit organization does not run the railroad so to speak. They are there to deal with the politicians. It is very different from being an operating man or woman.

Many, many years ago I saw a job announcement for an environmental affair enforcement administrative position in the Midwest. Part of the job involved dealing with elected officials as well as the public. Included in the description was the phase -- must be able to walk on water.
